The firefox browser has made dramatic gains against Internet explorer worldwide

While Internet Explorer remains the dominant browser on the market, Firefox is making major inroads around the world, according to a study released by XiTiMonitor.

While firefox usage in North America is estimated around 14%, firefox usage in Europe and Australia is around 25%! Considering that Internet Explorer had vanquished any competition just a few short years ago, it is a huge change.

Europe has been a major battleground. While firefox controls about a third of the market in countries like Germany and Poland, it is very close to becoming the majority browser in a country like Finland.

There are some nice color coded maps of Europe and the world at XiTiMonitor one can see if you are interested in this subject.
