google launching pay per action ads

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

Google is launching pay per action advertising. Adwords, google’s ad program has traditionally been pay per click. This way, specified actions should follow clicks before the advertiser pays out.

amazon’s new pay per click advertising program: clickriver

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

Amazon’s has apparently featured third party ads on its store product pages before. It has also been rolling out its own new system.

“Clickriver Ads is an advertising program — currently in beta — that allows businesses to place sponsored links on Amazon.com, next to search results and on product detail pages.”

Looks like this is also different from from Amazon’s Omakase contextual ads which show up on content websites. These show up on amazon.

Joseph Stiglitz’s (Nobel prize winner) new book on globalization

Saturday, January 6th, 2007

I had recently seen an interview with Joseph Stiglitz, author of “Making Globalization Work.” It was a interesting interview for a number of reasons. Joseph Stiglitz is a nobel prize winner. Although globalization is becoming increasingly important, it is not always well understood. Whatever one’s preferences, it always helps to understand both the benefits and problems of this important issue. Joseph Stiglitz presented a number of interesting, creative and analytical angles to an important problem.

Update: Here is a video of him at Google
