Microsoft Office faces new competition from Google and IBM
Google just announced the release of Presently, a direct competitor to Microsoft PowerPoint. This rounds out Google online office suite competitor offerings. (Previously, Google had developed word processor and spreadsheet online programs.)

IBM is also offering an office suite to compete against the Microsoft Office suite. (I.B.M. Lotus Symphony) at its website. (See this New York Times article on this topic.)
Other news: Yahoo is apparently acquiring (email and group calendaring) Zimbra. This Techcrunch post speculates whether office apps suite Zoho will follow next.
