Internet trend: evolution of a semantic web
Alex Iskold writes about an emerging Internet trend: the seeds of a semantic web. For example, he talks about the shift from pure html to a new emphasis on “xml” type information.
html has it’s origins as a browser specification language and as such is primarily concerned with presentation. xml, on the other hand, is more like a data meta description language. The new xml type introductions allow web information to be more easily categorized ,and to appear more like a traditional database of information. You can read more about it here.
